Hungarians everywhere – on Interpol’s wanted list, for instance

Currently, there are a total of 18 Hungarian citizens registered on Interpol’s (International Criminal Police Organisation) list of wanted criminals, among whom 3 are women. Two of them are fugitives wanted for fraud, among other delicts, while the third woman was trafficking drugs. The list also contains the man who, back in 2014, robbed 465 million forints (over one million euros) with his accomplices from Chinese merchants selling clothes in District 17 in Budapest.

Crime is everywhere; no country can escape it. But when it goes beyond the borders, the threat becomes international, and countries need to cooperate to find the crème de la crème – in the following, that of Hungary.

The oldest Hungarian on the list is a 61-year-old man from Bag who is still wanted by Interpol. The international warrant for his arrest was given on the basis of allegedly being part of an organised crime group dealing with narcotics. He is charged with cultivation, production, fabrication, sale, and purchase of risky drugs. Interestingly, he is the only one on the whole list of whom they do not have a picture.

On the other hand, the youngest on the list of Hungarians is the 28-year-old Marcell Cseh from Budapest, who is wanted for armed robbery. Details do not indicate whether the crime happened in Hungary or elsewhere, but considering he speaks English and German, anyone reading us from those countries, if you encounter someone with this name, please check the photo below before calling the police.

The biggest fish in our ocean (aka list), is definitely Zoltán Plank from Székesfehérvár. He is the one who

robbed an enormous amount, over 1 million euros, from several Chinese merchants 7 years ago in Budapest.

The robbers attacked them in Újlak Street in District 17, wearing hoodies and using gas sprays. They tied the poor merchants up and took their money. While trying to escape with a minivan, a friend of the robbed businessmen decided to chase them. Upon realising they were being followed, the aggressors shot at him but managed to get away. As a consequence, Zoltán is now being charged not only with armed robbery but also with attempted murder, making him the heavyweight of our Hungarian list. Since then, the commissioner of the Budapest police offered a reward of one million forints (2,700 eros) to anyone who knows his whereabouts. They even offered witness protection for the help.

Let’s see the ladies now. Ildikó Dudás from Tatabánya is wanted for crimes related to drugs, namely for being an abettor, for possessing substances as an accomplice, and even for abuse of a minor.
Stepping it up a bit, Mária Ilona Lakatos from the capital committed fraud and sex crimes such as pandering and facilitation and exploitation of prostitution in a business-like manner.
Arriving at the top,

Orsolya Sipos from Budapest has quite the resumé. She is charged not only with fraud once and blackmailing twice but also with forging private documents on two occasions. On the physical side, she committed violence or direct menace against life or limbs and is even charged with kidnapping and thus endangering a minor.

Interpol’s list consists of people against whom an international warrant for arrest has been issued and who are suspected to have fled their country, explains novekedes.hu.

There are two ways to get out of this system. Either the country issuing the arrest warrant can withdraw it, or the Secretary General’s office can decide on changing the status of the warrant.

Interpol was founded with the aim of helping the work of national polices in order to suppress crime spanning across countries. Interpol itself does not have its own authority to investigate, but it helps its member countries and their police by supplying data and records.
